West Michigan Food Pantries

I’m not going to spend a lot of time introducing this, as it’s pretty straightforward. I’ve gathered names, locations, phone numbers, and hours for various food banks throughout Local 26’s jurisdiction for those of our referents who are (or will be) feeling the pinch of coronavirus quarantining and the related shutdown of all things public.

PLEASE NOTE: I DID NOT VERIFY ANY OF THE INFORMATION BELOW, NOR DO I KNOW IF THE HOURS LISTED ARE IN GENERAL OR FOR FOOD DISTRIBUTION. I ALSO HAVE NO IDEA WHAT EACH ORGANIZATION MIGHT REQUIRE TO QUALIFY, IF ANYTHING.

Please do your own due diligence and contact any organization before you go there expecting to be given food. Not only is this a time of year when food banks are traditionally low on items, I’m sure they are seeing an astronomical uptick in the number of people needing help. Also, reach out to your area churches… Many of them provide food and/or clothing for people in need.

Local 26 has proven to be a strong family both in good times and bad, and this is no exception. If you have extra, please consider giving to those who do not. If you need something, DO NOT be embarrassed to ask for help. We are all in this unprecedented situation together, and together we will come out the other side maybe not the same as we were, but perhaps even stronger and better. Union is family, and family looks out for each other.

Be safe. Be well. And most importantly… WASH YOUR HANDS!
